I love using my ability to inspire the world in visual form. If I can put a beautiful image on anything, I will work that medium to deliver my inspiration to the public, my peers, my mentors, my audience. I am performing artist in public arenas as a muralist and
chalk artist. I paint illustrative and fine art works in mediums ranging from acrylics/metallics, gouache, oils, airbrush and faux finishes. I work on many types of surfaces: inside & outside walls, ceilings, panels, canvas, windows & paper.

There is a satisfaction that comes from knowing where to put things: colors and marks – knowing that this orange needs just this much more ochre and this green needs a tiny bit more yellow. I don’t know how I know these things; there isn’t a logic behind it, but I just know it. After a while that knowing gets weaker and I have to return to the painting later. Then I work again with confidence and a story slowly begins to unfold.
Inspired by French and Italian countrysides and her Southern Oregon surroundings, Katharine’s art is filled with sun-drenched colors that create charming, elegant and whimsical landscapes and vignettes. After earning her art degree from the University of Wisconsin, she pursued painting as her main focus, specializing in watercolor, acrylic and oils. Katharine continues to explore new themes from the whimsical to creative realism.
My art is guided by my instincts, my curious nature & sense of discovery, and great music rocking on my stereo. My goal is not perfection but rather to honestly represent my efforts & the outcome each new creation presents, whether it's capturing the alluring beauty of a woman or the juxtaposition of various metals & found objects together to create a unique piece of art. I currently work in oil, acrylic, watercolor, metal (copper's a favorite) and photography.
