A student of art since childhood, my love for nature and art come together in the medium of watercolor. I am fortunate to have studied under artists Lavonne Tarbox Crone and Judy Morris, who have inspired and nurtured me, but I recognize that my abilities are gifts of the Creator, whose beautiful masterpieces could never be rivaled. I have been a member of the Watercolor Society of Oregon since 2004.

"I paint to convey the peace and wonder I feel when I put brush to paper. During those hours, I return to the awe and awareness of nature I knew as a child. When those who observe my work enter into that magical place with me, that is when I feel my purpose is accomplished, and I am twice blessed."

The subject matter that I am interested in is representational. I strive to be thorough and accurate and yet catch what is fleeting and lively. The work I'm most proud of shows life as I see it: fatally flawed, but amazingly beautiful.
Jessica Carrara has been creating works of glass art in the Rogue Valley for over 30 years and owns LightGarden Glass Art. 的 believe there is a creative energy that flows through the universe and unites us. As an artist, I look to tap into that energy; continually moving forward through expression and design. So many times I値l finish a design and stand back to look, not even remembering when it stopped being a hazy vision and became a piece of art that was, in part, from beyond myself.

My inspiration for painting on silk is influenced by my experiences while growing up in Hawaii with its Asian and Hawaiian culture, an artistic family, and my observation of nature while hiking throughout Oregon. I've always been fascinated with nature and it's wonders, from the tiniest insects and wild birds to the night sky. The natural world influences my art directly and pleases my soul.

I love looking deeply into a late afternoon landscape or still-life when forms resonate with light, contrast and abstraction. Painting, for me, is about bringing heightened awareness to what I see, feel and imagine.

Painting is my way of expressing an emotion or moment in time to share with others. I paint a variety of subjects in many mediums and find in each a joyful challenge; I'm currently experimenting with abstract expressionism. I show my work at the Portland Art Museum, in numerous galleries throughout Southern Oregon, and at the Saatchi Gallery in London. My father was an artist and my great, great grandfather was George Inness, an artist of the Hudson River School.

I started painting ten years ago, taking classes from other artists and attending life drawing studios. My main medium is watercolor, but I also use oil, acrylic and ink. Recently my work has been evolving into a more abstract representation of subject matter, with an emphasis on design. Living here in Southern Oregon, I am especially interested in my surroundings and all the visual variety there is for an artist here.

My work is mainly landscapes, seascapes & nature images taken in S. Oregon and along the Oregon Coast, joined by travel, architectural, floral and abstract photos. During 30+ years as a cardio-thoracic Surgical Physician Asst. I've helped patients and family through some of the most stressful days of their lives. This makes creating images with a sense of beauty and peace which can relieve the stresses of life one of my greatest joys.
