A student of art since childhood, my love for nature and art come together in the medium of watercolor. I am fortunate to have studied under artists Lavonne Tarbox Crone and Judy Morris, who have inspired and nurtured me, but I recognize that my abilities are gifts of the Creator, whose beautiful masterpieces could never be rivaled. I have been a member of the
Watercolor Society of Oregon since 2004.
A nationally recognized master watercolorist with numerous signature memberships, Anderson also paints in acrylic and creates pet portraits in watercolor. "I paint to convey the peace and wonder I feel when I put brush to paper. During those hours, I return to the awe and awareness of nature I knew as a child. When those who observe my work enter into that magical place with me, that is when I feel my purpose is accomplished, and I am twice blessed."
I began as a self-taught artist, honing my skills for hours in the library and drawing portraits of classmates for $10 each as a teen. Later in life I took art courses at various universities. I got serious after I retired, spending 4 years majoring in fine arts at Southern Utah Univ. I'm still hungry to learn. I've been blessed to live in picturesque areas all my life, from the hills of Napa Valley to the Rocky Mountains, diverse landscapes in Utah, and now my forever home, Southern Oregon.
Stefan Baumann, a respected artist and oil painting instructor from the Bay area, now lives in Mt. Shasta. His passionate love of nature and use of light in his artwork began in Lake Tahoe and blossomed at Stanford University. He paints, and teaches students how to paint, the beauty of the forests and rural landscapes near his home and in the Rogue Valley.
Sue Bennett is a classically trained artist who paints to express beauty. "My intent is to capture the heart of the subject and I get completely caught up in it." Her paintings have been included in over 45 exhibits around the nation. She works most frequently in transparent watercolor, however she also enjoys opaque watermedia and pastel.
I have a passionate and spiritual reaction to nature. And I paint my subjects in an attempt to recreate that emotional truth and excitement. I paint primarily with water media because I love its transparent quality, vibrant colors and unpredictability. Spirited interpretations of my subjects are somewhat realistic yet ethereal. Celebration happens for me when I successfully express what I attempt to paint…and to share…a soul connection.
Whitewater rafting and traveling with husband and dogs fuels her inspiration. You can find her on a river bank, in a field, or by the edge of a marsh.
"Being out in nature allows me to study the nuances needed to convey my interpretation of the scene."

My background in art education empha- sizes a strong foundation of classical art training, greatly influencing my artistic focus and direction. My intent is to capture, on paper or canvas, mysterious and thought provoking scenes. Nature with its moods and soft edges has always inspired me to draw and paint abstracts, landscapes or figure studies. My art is in private collections nationwide; I've exhibited in galleries and juried shows in S. California, NW Arkansas and S. Oregon.
