Ashland has a very unified and well-coordinated arts & culture community, and the Ashland Gallery Association promotes their galleries and the artists they represent, as well as hosting special events such as the A Taste of Ashland Festival at the end of April. The best way to sample them all in any given month is to take an evening stroll around town during Ashland's First Friday Art Walk, from 5 - 8 pm. A lovely catalog of galleries is available at most Ashland locations to guide you through the diverse offerings the Ashland art community has to offer. Many galleries also feature workshops taught by both local and visting artists.

Festival goers can enjoy samples of everything chocolate from fine chocolates created in the classical Belgian tradition to chocolate crackers, with a range of organic, raw, ethically sourced, fair trade, herb-infused, vegan and allergen-free brownies, cookies, truffles, madeleines, meringues, bars, drinking chocolate and toffees, along with pairings of locally produced artisanal cheese, coffee, beer, wine and spirits to accompany them. Competitions decide the year's best chocolates, in several categories, and chocolate desserts created by local culinary artists and chefs.
